The verdict

There are not yet enough audience votes to give this a reliable score. It is not currently playing in Hong Kong cinemas. 85 minutes.

What it is about

Little Vampire lives in a haunted house with a band of monsters, but he’s terribly bored... He’s been 10 years old for 300 years now, so pirate ships and the film club haven’t held his interest for a very long time. His dream? To go to school and make friends. But his parents won’t hear of it; the outside world is too dangerous. Accompanied by Fantomate, his bulldog, Little Vampire sneaks out of the mansion, determined to meet other children.

What to expect

Joann Sfar directs this 85-minute French animation, opening in Hong Kong on 10 October 2026. The setup is simple: a 300-year-old boy stuck in a haunted house decides to sneak out and find a school. What follows is less a plot-driven adventure than a series of low-stakes encounters, drawn in Sfar’s loose, expressive line — the same hand behind The Rabbi’s Cat. The movie carries an FCP 2026 certificate and screens with English subtitles only. It is a small-scale release, so expect it at major chains rather than every neighbourhood cinema. Families with children young enough to still find the premise novel will get the most from it; older kids may find the pace too gentle.
