What it is about

After the events of Rebellion, the world appears to be in balance—but that peace is fragile. As a new threat connected to Walpurgisnacht emerges, Homura Akemi is forced to face the consequences of her choices and question how far she is willing to go to protect Madoka.

What to expect

A direct sequel to Rebellion, this picks up after Homura Akemi rewrote reality itself. The peace she manufactured is already splintering, and the return of Walpurgisnacht forces her to confront what she broke to save Madoka. The movie assumes you know the series and the 2013 movie—walking in cold will leave you lost. What follows is two hours of the franchise’s signature move: magical-girl tropes twisted into something closer to psychological horror, with surreal set pieces that keep the emotional pressure high. Rated IIA. Playing across 15 cinemas and 12 districts in Hong Kong, with over 110 screenings in the first week. Tickets from HK$60. The only premium format is 4DX, which adds motion and environmental effects to the action. Japanese audio with English and Chinese subtitles.
