What it is about
Every day, Barbara drives her mobile sewing van around the Swiss Alps, barely maintaining her livelihood. But today, fate gives her a chance to turn her life around: a botched drug deal, two injured motorcyclists, guns, and a briefcase full of cash. Now she must make a decision — call the police, take the money and run, or commit the perfect crime? Every choice leads to different fate, but who can guarantee things will go as expected? Deeply inspired by Run Lola Run, 23-year-old writer-director Freddy Macdonald makes an electrifying debut, pushing the boundaries of cinematic storytelling. As each choice weaves a different ending, will Barbara manage to find one path where she gets out alive?
What to expect
Barbara runs a mobile sewing van through the Swiss Alps, barely keeping the business alive. That changes when she stumbles on a botched drug deal — two downed motorcyclists, guns, and a briefcase of cash. The movie runs each of her options: call the police, grab the money, or stage the perfect crime. At 95 minutes, it is a tight, chilly thriller with a deadpan comic streak, and the looping structure keeps it brisk rather than repetitive. The debut of 23-year-old Freddy Macdonald, it plays in English with English subtitles only. Audience response is lukewarm — 6.4 from 64 votes — so it lands as a curiosity more than a breakout. It opens 16 November 2026 under the Swiss Mini FF banner, so expect a short, limited run. Anyone curious about a low-budget structural gambit in an alpine setting will get a decent evening out of it.

What viewers said
The feature debut of writer and director Freddy Macdonald's **SEW TORN** -- which premiered at 2024's SXSW -- is a clever, Swiss Alps-set crime thriller told in a narrative triptych style reminiscent of Tom Tykwer's 1998 **RUN LOLA RUN**. When introverted seamstress Barbara Duggen (Eve Connelly) randomly encounters the aftermath of drug deal gone bad on a quiet, country road -- she is suddenly faced with choices that lead to unintended consequences in a wash, rinse, repeat style that give vie […]

It was kind of a comedy movie that was unfunny and very frustrating. Somehow, it was trying to be unique, and it actually was. It was a uniquely dumb movie. I liked some of the ideas of what the filmmakers tried to show, but how they showed it was just too ridiculous, which conflicted with the serious tone of the scenes. […]
