What it is about
Small-time gangsters Invincible and Bee, best friends who run a pirated DVD shop, are slackers who are into all the vices. While returning from a mission for their boss, they accidentally hit someone on the road. After bringing the corpse back to the mall, the corpse reanimates as a zombie and starts infecting anyone it comes across. When the mall’s shutters come down, the survivors become locked in a cage with nowhere to escape, and the zombies will leave no one unturned. Will Invincible and Bee step up to the plate and become heroes of the night?
What to expect
Before Wilson Yip turned to Ip Man, he made this scrappy 1998 zombie comedy, now screening in a restored edition for bc30 x APAAA. Invincible and Bee run a pirated DVD stall in a mall and are not exactly hero material, so when a corpse they accidentally run over reanimates and the shutters come down, the movie gets its tension from watching two slackers forced to grow up fast. The zombie gags are cheap and cheerful, the triad side plot is pure late‑nineties Hong Kong, and the whole thing runs a tight 94 minutes. Cantonese with English and Chinese subtitles. Playing in select cinemas from 21 September 2026.
