What it is about
In rural France, Christophe tries to live up to his rigid, distant father on the family farm. But the young boy starts to lean over and collapse without warning, on the tractor, at school, at dinner. A doctor finds the solution: Christophe must wear an iron corset to keep himself upright. Forced to reinvent his life away from the farm, he discovers a new passion for music, meets a new friend and follows her into his first mischief. But will any of this really fix what is out of balance?

What to expect
Christophe’s body gives way without warning — on the tractor, at school, at the dinner table. The fix is an iron corset, and with it comes a life away from the family farm. Louis Clichy’s hand-drawn animation keeps the 1980s French countryside close and quiet, so the movie feels less like a medical story than a slow, careful look at a boy who finds music and a first real friend only after he is forced to stop being the son his father expected. The 89-minute runtime holds a Cannes Un Certain Regard Special Jury Prize winner that sits better with older children and adults; the father-son strain and the weight of illness are present throughout, but never pushed for tears. It opens in Hong Kong on 10 October 2026 in French with English and Traditional Chinese subtitles.
