The verdict

There are not yet enough audience votes to give this a reliable score. It is not currently playing in Hong Kong cinemas. 113 minutes.

What it is about

The unforgettable, striking, and emotionally raw story of Eddie, a young bodybuilder struggling to define himself in a community with limited opportunity. Eddie lives under the intense influence of his deeply codependent mother while grappling with gay sexual desires that clash with the rigid religious beliefs that shape his world. Convince that his only path forward is through perfecting the body God gave him, Eddie pursues bodybuilding with an obsessive devotion that ultimately forces him to questions of identity, masculinity, and faith.

What to expect

Eddie channels everything into bodybuilding — his mother's suffocating attention, the desires his church condemns, and a town that offers him no other way to be seen. The camera stays close, registering the strain in the gym and the silences at home, where faith and sexuality grind against each other without ever reaching a clean resolution. It is a quiet, physically charged 113 minutes, and it lands hardest for viewers who can sit with a character who does not know how to name what he wants. Screened in English with Chinese subtitles as part of HKLGFF 2026.
