Jafar Panahi plays a taxi driver picking up passengers across Tehran, a dashboard camera the only witness. The conversations that follow — with a bootleg DVD seller, an injured man, his own niece — drift between the absurd and the quietly pointed, each fare a fragment of a city where everyday talk is never just small talk. Panahi made the movie while officially banned from filmmaking, and that constraint shapes everything: the tight frame, the reliance on whoever opens the door, the sense that the ride could end at any moment.
