The verdict

There are not yet enough audience votes to give this a reliable score. It is not currently playing in Hong Kong cinemas. 80 minutes.

What it is about

Shana navigates the trials and tribulations of everyday life with boundless energy and the support of her group of friends. When her grandmother passes away, she inherits a ring that is supposed to protect her from bad luck. Shana certainly needs this helping hand. Especially since her toxic partner has been released from prison, and misfortunes are piling up...

The film will be introduced by the "Directors' Fortnight's Artistic Director Julien Rejl on 29 NOVEMBER at Broadway Cinematheque.

What to expect

Shana is a French drama that plays more like a comedy of resilience — 80 minutes spent inside the chaos of a young woman whose life keeps piling on. Director Lila Pinell keeps the tone light and the pace brisk, leaning on the chemistry of a six-strong cast led by Eva Huault. The movie screened in Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes 2026, and the Hong Kong showing on 29 November at Broadway Cinematheque will be introduced by the section’s artistic director, Julien Rejl. In French with English subtitles. The toxic-relationship thread means it is not an automatic pick for younger viewers, so check the rating.
