What it is about

Fresh off the worldwide blockbuster success of summer 2024’s funniest comedy, Despicable Me 4, Illumination expands its joyful animated universe with a riotous new chapter, featuring all-new characters, in the biggest global animated franchise in history: Minions & Monsters. 

This is the rambunctious, ridiculous and totally true story of how the Minions conquered Hollywood, became movie stars, lost everything, unleashed monsters onto the world and then banded together to try and save the planet from the mayhem they had just created. 
 

What to expect

The Minions blunder through a Hollywood backlot and accidentally let real monsters loose on the world. That setup, from Illumination’s latest Despicable Me spin-off, is an excuse for 90 minutes of slapstick chaos and a voice cast that includes Trey Parker, Christoph Waltz, Allison Janney and Jeff Bridges. Pierre Coffin directs and voices the Minions, as he has from the start. The Cantonese-dubbed version opens in Hong Kong on 1 July 2026 with Chinese subtitles. Rated Category I, it is open to all ages. Early audiences logged a 7.5 from over 900 votes.
