The verdict

There are not yet enough audience votes to give this a reliable score. It is playing 3 times at 2 cinemas across 2 districts, from HK$170. The cheapest seat is at Emperor Cinemas Tai Wai (The Wai) in Tai Wai, HK$170. Category I · 100 minutes.

What it is about

Popular, outgoing Fujino is celebrated by her classmates for her funny comics in the class newspaper. One day, her teacher asks her to share the space with Kyomoto, a truant recluse whose beautiful artwork sparks a competitive fervor in Fujino. What starts as jealousy transforms when Fujino realizes their shared passion for drawing.

What to expect

This reunion screening of the anime feature 'Look Back' is playing just three times across two cinemas in two districts over the next week. The story pairs a popular class comic artist with a truant whose drawing ability unsettles her, and the 100 minutes trace how that rivalry turns into a friendship built on a shared obsession with manga. Hirokazu Kore-eda directs, working in a register that is intimate and, at points, tragic. The movie is in Japanese with English and Chinese subtitles, rated Category I, and the cheapest ticket is HK$170.
