The verdict

There are not yet enough audience votes to give this a reliable score. It is not currently playing in Hong Kong cinemas. Category IIB · 137 minutes.

What to expect

Song Kang-ho plays a Seoul taxi driver who, in 1980, picks up a German journalist and ends up driving into the middle of the Gwangju uprising. The movie stays tightly inside his perspective — he is not a hero, just a man trying to get through the day, and the tension comes from watching him realise what is actually happening around him. Director Jang Hoon keeps the tone dry and unglamorous, with flashes of dark humour that land because the cast underplays them. At 137 minutes it asks for a full afternoon, and the IIB rating reflects some sustained intensity rather than graphic violence. This screening is part of bcSunday, the regular Sunday-matinee slot that revives one notable title each week. English and Chinese subtitles.
