What it is about
For 25 years, a murder case has remained indelibly etched on Benjamín Espósito’s mind. Now retired, he decides to go back over that story and take another look at a past full of love, death and friendship. Telling a story from the past is no longer just a pastime to fill his empty hours. If he is to give any meaning to the years remaining to him, and if once and for all he is to face up to the woman who, thirty years on, he is still in love with.
What to expect
Juan José Campanella’s Argentine drama follows a retired legal officer, Benjamín Espósito, who tries to make sense of a 25-year-old murder case by turning it into a novel — and in doing so, confronts the woman he has loved for three decades. The movie moves at a deliberate pace, spending its 129 minutes on the emotional residue of violence rather than on procedural beats. Ricardo Darín anchors the cast, with Soledad Villamil and Guillermo Francella in support. The tone is sombre and ruminative, closer to a literary character study than a whodunit. The Hong Kong release is rated III and opens on 17 September 2026. It screens in Spanish with English and Chinese subtitles.
