The verdict

What it is about
“What would you say if I shaved off my moustache?” Marc asks Agnès. Just to see how she’ll react, he shaves off his moustache. She comes home and doesn’t notice a thing. No one else notices, either. Marc stands alone, the only one convinced that until the day before he’d had a moustache. He’s the only one who can see it in old photos. He’s the only one to believe, to see, to remember – he feels like he’s going crazy.
What to expect
Marc shaves off his moustache. His wife doesn’t notice. His friends don’t notice. Then the old photos show he never had one. Emmanuel Carrère’s 86-minute drama traps you inside a man who can no longer trust what he sees, with Vincent Lindon holding the centre in a performance that tightens as every casual denial lands. The movie runs on unease rather than plot, and the 35mm grain and close quarters keep the pressure low and constant. It opens in Hong Kong on 5 December 2026 with English subtitles only. Expect a limited art-house run — check individual cinemas for sessions. The short runtime makes it a manageable weeknight choice if you want something that lingers without raising its voice.
