The verdict

There are not yet enough audience votes to give this a reliable score. It is not currently playing in Hong Kong cinemas. Category IIA · 121 minutes.

What it is about

Thirty years ago, the Super Ying Association led by Superman Wang Changhai crushed the aliens. Years later, Wang Changhai was appointed to return to his hometown to set up a combat squad, but in the town of Rheinland, which had been peaceful for many years, human feelings and courtesies have left Wang Changhai overwhelmed, creating layers of obstacles to Wang's ability to complete his mission.

What to expect

A washed-up superhero is ordered back to his sleepy hometown to build a combat squad, thirty years after he saved the planet. The town has moved on — nobody cares about aliens, and the real enemy is local bureaucracy and small-town etiquette. The movie plays that mismatch for deadpan laughs, leaning more on awkward social encounters than on sci-fi spectacle. At 121 minutes it is a long sit for a comedy, and the pacing will test anyone who came for action. The IIA certificate keeps it accessible for teens. This week it has 18 screenings across 3 cinemas in 2 districts, with tickets from HK$60. English and Chinese subtitles are available.
