What it is about

In a greenhouse in southern Spain, transgender man Iván falls in love with newly hired Moroccan colleague Hadoum. Amidst the harsh factory system, their secret romance soon becomes an obstacle to Iván's pursuit of a promotion. Escaping societal judgment, they seek refuge on an isolated beach. In this directorial debut, Ian de la Rosa explores boundaries of gender, class, and culture. Within an unequal world, only love can dissolve the invisible lines between people.

What to expect

Ian de la Rosa’s debut sets a workplace romance inside a greenhouse in southern Spain, where the heat is as much about the factory floor as it is about the secret between Iván, a trans man, and Hadoum, his newly arrived Moroccan colleague. The movie is less interested in the mechanics of their affair than in the quiet calculations each character makes — Iván weighing a promotion, Hadoum weighing his precarious status as an outsider. When the two retreat to an isolated beach, the movie shifts into something more stripped-back and uncertain. It won the Teddy Award at Berlin and played Seattle. 103 min, Spanish with English subtitles. Part of SFF2026, opening in Hong Kong on 30 September.
