What it is about
After a harrowing plane crash, Special Forces officer James Belmont (Brad Pitt) and his combat dog, Odin, find themselves stranded deep in the Alaskan wilderness. Together, they are forced into a brutal fight for survival against the elements. From acclaimed filmmaker David Ayer, Heart of the Beast is an intense adventure thriller that explores the unbreakable bond between a man and his best friend as they face their greatest battle yet.
What to expect
David Ayer strips the survival thriller down to two bodies and a frozen horizon. Brad Pitt plays a Special Forces officer whose plane goes down in Alaska; the only other survivor is his combat dog, Odin. The movie spends most of its 101 minutes on the practical, punishing work of staying alive — shelter, wounds, hunger — and the way that work tightens the tether between the man and the animal. J.K. Simmons and Anna Lambe appear in supporting turns, but the weight sits squarely on Pitt and the dog. It is leaner and less adrenalised than Ayer's earlier action work, closer to a wilderness procedural with teeth. The movie opens in Hong Kong on 24 September 2026, playing English with Chinese subtitles across seven cinemas in six districts.
