What it is about
Arthur is a bored millionaire, engaged to Alice. On a cruise to Hong Kong, his friend Mr Goh comes up with a solution: he convinces Arthur to take out a two-million-dollar life insurance policy expiring in one month, and tells Arthur that he may be killed at any moment. Determined
to survive, Arthur fights for his life, accompanied by his butler Léon and Alexandrine, a young woman he met in Hong Kong.
What to expect
Philippe de Broca directs Jean-Paul Belmondo as a millionaire who, while cruising to Hong Kong, is talked into a life insurance policy that expires in one month — and told he may be killed before it does. What follows is a farce built on the gap between genuine peril and the hero's panicked imagination, with Ursula Andress and Jean Rochefort along for the ride. The comedy is broad, physical, and very much of its era. At 110 minutes, it is a single-sitting lark rather than a rediscovered classic. The movie screens as part of FCP 2026 with English subtitles only; no Cantonese dub is available. Check venue listings for showtimes and ticket prices.
