Max Webster, who directed the stage version of Life of Pi, gives Wilde’s comedy a physical, playful makeover without touching the dialogue. The result is a 170-minute NT Live recording that leans into slapstick and contemporary gags while the text does its usual work skewering Victorian manners. Sharon D Clarke and Ncuti Gatwa lead the cast. The screening runs with an interval, and the multi-camera capture gets you closer to the performances than any seat in the house.
