What it is about
Joris is a frustrated man who spends his days doing a job he hates and caring for his elderly mother. One day, he meets a dog, quickly becomes attached to it and decides to get back to his passion, biology, and to teach at university. It is a daunting task, and Joris sets himself the challenge of passing the exam to become a lecturer, but he has to face his brother, reluctant professors, and his own inner struggles.
What to expect
Joris is worn down by a dead-end job and the demands of caring for his mother. An encounter with a stray dog pulls him back toward the biology career he abandoned, but the real test isn't the lecturer exam — it's the brother who resents him, the faculty who doubt him, and a lifetime of telling himself he's not up to it. The movie keeps its focus tight on Joris's small, stubborn steps forward, and the 110 minutes feel lived-in rather than plotted. Czech-language drama with English subtitles.
