The verdict

There are not yet enough audience votes to give this a reliable score. It is not currently playing in Hong Kong cinemas. 115 minutes.

What it is about

It is March 1978 in the suburbs of Nantes. The Puig family has seven children, and today is the wedding of the youngest: Jacques. The father is not attending the wedding; he has been banished from the family. The brothers and sisters, however, are all there, happy to be reunited. Jacques is marrying Martine. For the two of them, it’s a marriage of love. But can love heal the wounds of childhood?

What to expect

Christophe Honoré sets this family reunion in 1978 Nantes, but the period detail is light — the movie cares more about the silences between the seven Puig siblings than about the wedding itself. The youngest, Jacques, is marrying for love; their father has been banished and does not attend. That absence is the real subject, and Honoré lets it sit in the room rather than turning it into melodrama. Adèle Exarchopoulos and Vincent Lacoste are among the ensemble, and the 115-minute runtime gives the cast room to build the kind of shared history that makes a large family feel lived-in rather than sketched. The movie is in French with English subtitles. It screens as part of the French Cinepanorama series in select Hong Kong cinemas from October 10, 2026.
