What it is about
The Japanese national soccer team has long suffered from a lack of scoring power. To break this deadlock, a top-secret project named “Blue Lock” was launched.
Three hundred high school strikers gathered at the facility must undergo numerous trials, with only the final survivor becoming the world's greatest striker. However, the cruel condition was that those eliminated would permanently lose their eligibility to join the national team.
Can the unknown high school player Yoichi Isagi (Fumiya Takahashi) defeat 299 others and become the strongest ace striker!?
What to expect
A live-action take on the manga and anime, “BLUE LOCK” strands 300 high-school strikers in a facility where only one will be named Japan’s top forward—everyone else is permanently barred from the national team. The movie leans into the psychological pressure of that setup as much as the on-pitch action, so expect a tense, combative tone rather than a straightforward sports drama. It is rated IIA, meaning it is suitable for ages 12 and up; younger children may find the elimination stakes harsh. This week it plays just two sessions across two cinemas in two districts, so availability is tight. The only format is 4DX, which adds motion seats and environmental effects to the football sequences. Tickets start at HK$210. Runtime is 128 minutes, with English and Chinese subtitles.
